SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA — Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones has surged to a five point lead over incumbent Congressman Ami Bera, according to a new poll in California’s 7th congressional district. The poll, conducted October 1-3 by Public Opinion Strategies, shows Jones leading Bera 47% to 42%.

“With voting about to start, Sheriff Jones is in a very strong position to win the 7th district,” said Jones’s campaign consultant Dave Gilliard. “The false and harshly negative attacks launched by Bera and his supporters on TV and in the mailbox, have not only failed to move voters, they have done further harm to Bera’s already shaky image with voters.”
