Jones1Sheriff Scott Jones was elected by the people of Sacramento County in 2010 and was reelected to a second term in 2014.

Sheriff Jones has a stellar record of accomplishment. He led the department out of the worst financial crisis of its history and implemented significant initiatives, including creating a multi-jurisdictional Impact Division that uses active intelligence to fight gangs and remove gang leaders and establishing the Department’s first Community Relations Unit. Jones also created the first ever Youth Services Unit that engages thousands of young people every week in activities and programs.

familySheriff Jones is the current President of the California Peace Officers Association and sits on many professional and community boards, including Make-a-Wish.

Scott Jones has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from CSU Sacramento, and a Juris Doctor (Law) degree from Lincoln Law School. He is also a graduate of the West Point Leadership Program, as well as the FBI’s National Executive Institute. In addition to his duties with the Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Jones is also an adjunct professor at both the community college and state college levels. Scott Jones has been married to his wife Christy for 20 years, and they have four children.
